Enrollment Process and Procedure

Cosmetology Program

A Cosmetologist may expand to other occupations in the field, such as: Salon Manager or Owner, Esthetician, Nail Technician, Platform Artist, Product Representative, or may extend his/her education to become a Cosmetology Instructor.

Upon completion of the course, the student will have demonstrated competencies required to pass the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology examination and enter the Cosmetology industry. He/she will have gained the basic technical knowledge and practical skills to thoroughly understand the science of professional Cosmetology.

The program consists of 1600 hours. Cosmetology in all its various phases are held throughout the 1600 hours. Daytime schedule is 40 hours per week for 46 weeks and nighttime schedule is 20 hours per week for 84 weeks.

Supervision by licensed instructors provide a learning situation for practical application and theory classes. Students are required to complete the Freshman pre-clinic training (300 hours) before performing client services. Classes in theory of Cosmetology in all various phases are held throughout the 1600 hours and written tests are given regularly.

Theory of Cosmetology, Arizona By-Laws and Rules - 200 Hours
Practical Cosmetology & Theory Involving All Hair & Skin Types:
  • Monitor Duties, Salesmanship Ethics & Salon Management - 35 Hours
  • Chemical Hair Restructuring, Including Permanent Waving,
    Chemical Relaxing - Thioglycolate & Sodium Hydroxide - 230 Hours
  • Hair coloring, Tinting & Bleaching - 230 Hours
  • Haircutting - 230 Hours
  • Hairstyling, Pressing, Thermal Curling & Waving - 230 Hours
  • Facials and Makeup Including
    Massage, Physical & Chemical Depilatories - 100 Hours
  • Massage - 100 Hours
  • Manicuring, Pedicuring, Sculpture Nails,
    Extensions, Wraps, Overlays, and Related Services - 75 Hours
  • Shampooing - 50 Hours
  • Scalp Treatment & Brushing - 20 Hours
  • Electricity & Light Therapy as Related to Cosmetology - 10 Hours
  • Creative Preference - 40 Hours
  • Disinfecting Procedures - 50 Hours
